The world's first mobile phone commercial - 1983
The first brand to commercially offer handheld mobile phones to the public was Motorola.
The device was the Motorola DynaTAC 8000x.
While a prototype was famously used by Motorola engineer Martin Cooper to make the first public mobile phone call on April 3, 1973, the Motorola DynaTAC 8000x was officially launched for commercial sale in 1983, with wide availability by April 1984.

It was a truly groundbreaking device, though it earned the nickname "the brick" due to its size (weighing around 1.1 kilograms or 2.5 pounds) and its hefty price tag of $3,995 (equivalent to over $12,000 in 2025 dollars). It offered about 30 minutes of talk time after a 10-hour charge.
